Veterinary Pathologist Professor

Dr. Gonzalez is a board-certified anatomic pathologist with over 14 years of experience in diagnostic veterinary pathology and non-human primate pathology in biomedical research. Currently, she provides anatomic and clinical pathology research, diagnostic, and colony support to identify any potential disease trends in the colony, establish new animal models, and generate/ expand the searchable database for future scientific retrospective studies and publications. In addition to participation in GLP and animal rule studies, she provides anatomic pathology support to the ABSL-3 and ABSL-4 facilities at her current position. Dr. Gonzalez performs in-house, collaborative, and contract research pathology support, including studies on infectious diseases (Trypanosoma cruzi, Tuberculosis, SIV, HIV, HCV, HBV, Ebola, Marburg, Zika), diabetes, amyloidosis, seizures, cardiomyopathy, and reproductive pathology of the baboon. Her research interest is focused on developing diagnostic criteria and scoring systems for infectious diseases and aging-related disorders in animal models.
