Advanced Practice Veterinary Nurse Program Director
Veterinary Emergency Group
Angela Rathmann has been in the veterinary field over 30 years, obtaining her CVT in 1990. She entered the world of Emergency and Critical Care medicine in 1995 and obtained her VTS in Emergency & Critical Care (AVECCTN) in 2001, being the first to do so in the state of Arizona. Angela then went on to become a charter member of the Academy of Veterinary Internal Medicine Technicians (AIMVT) which was established in 2008. She has served as president of a previous state technician association in Arizona, where she had responsibilities of overseeing the financial health of the organization as it grew. That association became successful to the point where the AzVMA became interested in partnering with it, and eventually became the primary oversight of this association, at which point it became the Veterinary Heathcare Team of Arizona (VHTAz). Angela served as the chair for the exam committee of AVECCTN (3 years- 5 years on exam committee) where she had to propose budgets to the board for approval. She also served as Domain Chair for Nursing Standards Committee (3 years) and Executive Secretary (7 years) for AVECCTN as well. The role of Executive Secretary at the time did include a degree of financial oversight and budgetary proposal development. Angela was awarded Technician of the Year in 2001 by the Arizona Veterinary Medical Association, has lectured internationally and been published in journals and books as well as being a co-editor of a book published in 2016. Most recently Angela was awarded Continuing Educator of the Year in 2022 by Viticus. Angela currently works as an Advanced Practice Veterinary Nurse Program Director with the Veterinary Emergency Group living in Corsicana, Texas with her dogs, cats, and horses.
