Clinical pathology interpretation can be challenging in birds due to lack of reference intervals for various species and the fact that many of the avian enzymes analyzed are different than those of mammals. However, with a basic understanding of avian clinical pathology these laboratory values can really make tremendous impacts on the clinical case management. The lecture will highlight blood sampling and handling, defining what chemistry values are clinically relevant in avian medicine, and how to evaluate each organ system via clinical pathology.
