Dr. Long obtained her DVM from Texas A & M University in 2001 after completing a bachelor and master degree at Stephen F. Austin State University in animal science with a master’s thesis on poultry as well as a bachelor degree from Texas A & M University.
Dr. Long began her career in veterinary medicine while in high school and started in the field as a kennel assistant at a mixed animal veterinary clinic in Bonham, Texas. She later served in reception and technician/assistant roles prior to and during her time in veterinary school.
Her first clinical position was at Angleton Veterinary Clinic which at the time was a mixed animal clinic in Angleton, Texas. She then moved onto Bay Glen Animal Hospital, an AAHA accredited small animal hospital in Clear Lake (a suburb of Houston). She joined the team as an associate and later became a partner. In addition to her general practice experience, she also worked in small animal emergency clinics in south Houston for approximately 15 years. Dr. Long and her partners joined NVA in 2013. She has served in an associate DVM role and a MDVM role (single and multi-site). She became part of the general practice mentor team in 2022.
Dr. Long is especially interested in helping develop healthy cultures while providing excellent care for patients and communication for owners.
In addition to her clinical roles, she is extremely active in organized veterinary medicine & has served numerous roles in the Harris County VMA as well as the Texas VMA.
