Dr. Sampson started an alternative track radiology residency at Texas A&M University in July 2022. She spends half her time on the Diagnostic Imaging Service under the guidance of 7 board certified veterinary radiologists of which 6 are double boarded in equine diagnostic imaging. The other half of her time is spent on the equine sports medicine and imaging service at Texas A&M University. Previously, she obtained her DVM at Washington State University in 1999 and then worked in a busy equine ambulatory practice near Seattle, WA for the following 4 years. She went back to Washington State University in 2003 to complete a combined Large Animal Surgery & Orthopedic Sports Medicine residency. Dr. Sampson stayed on as a surgery lecturer for two more years during which she finished a PhD in equine orthopedic MRI and became an ACVS Diplomate. Following this, she worked as an equine surgeon at Mississippi State University for 3 years and then worked as an equine surgeon in private practices in California, Virginia, and Texas. In 2014 she passed the ACVSMR board certification examination to become an ACVSMR Diplomate in Equine Sports Medicine & Rehabilitation. In 2019 she completed Certification in Equine Rehabilitation Practice at the University of Tennessee. Dr. Sampson has been working on the Equine Sports Medicine & Imaging Service at Texas A&M University for the last 8 years, specializing in equine advanced imaging (specifically orthopedic MRI), as well as lameness and performance issues in sport horses.
