There are new and exciting treatments available for feline diabetes mellitus. In this lecture, we will introduce the most successful oral treatment for feline diabetes, the sodium glucose transporter 2 (SGLT-2) inhibitors. We will reveal safety and efficacy data regarding velagliflozin, an SGLT-2 inhibitor recently studied in cats. This option represents a true paradigm shift in the management of feline diabetes.
