Felis catus is a domesticated species, yet many of its normal behaviors mirror those of its wild counterparts. This session starts at the root of where these behaviors began and how many “wild” behaviors, such as destructive scratching, chewing, marking, climbing and predatory play are well-preserved in today’s housecat. Attendees will learn how to distinguish between normal, albeit nuisance behavior and those that are actually abnormal. Tips for how to prevent, manage and provide alternative outlets for these problematic behaviors will be discussed in detail.
