This presentation will review current anesthetic mortality rates and monitoring guidelines considered the standard of care. Common anesthetic complications will be discussed, including hypotension, thermoregulation, hypoxemia, difficult recoveries, and gastroesophageal reflux. Implementation of anesthetic safety checklists will be examined. This lecture would be helpful (but not required) to attend prior to the Saturday morning lab (Trouble-shooting Anesthesia Machines & Monitors).
